Here are some pics from snowfall here in Phoenix and Scottsdale this last couple days...Brrrrrr
Some Maricopa County residents got a rare treat Wednesday: snow. A winter storm moved into the state overnight, bringing a chilly end to 2014 and temperatures around 28 degrees. Heavy snow began falling in the Wickenburg area, about 65 miles northwest of Phoenix, around 9:30a.m. Wednesday.
Rain and snow fell on Phoenix in the early morning hours and snow accumulated in and elsewhere around the state, including Lake Havasu City, Prescott and Flagstaff.
The same weather system will bring cold temperatures and a freeze watch in the Phoenix area later tonight.
The system prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter storm warning from 11 a.m. Wednesday to 5 p.m. Thursday for parts of Arizona north of 3,500 feet, where 2-to-6 inches of snow accumulation were possible.
By 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, the storm system had already brought a steady, light rain to the Valley and reports of 3 inches of snow in the Flagstaff area.
The system could dump as much as 10 inches of snow in areas above 5,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service. It brought 1/2 inch to Scottsdale and Fountain Hills also..W
